Nimes - FNI
The airport generally known as Nîmes-Garons actually bears the grand title of The Nîmes – Alès – Camargue – Cévennes Airport. It is situated 15Km south east of the city of Nimes in the Gard department just off junction 2 of the A54 autoroute. So close in fact, that arriving aircraft seem to skim the banks of the motorway.
Originally a military base, Nimes Airport is supervised by the Garons Air and Naval base and managed by Veolia Transport Aeroport Nîmes who have a 5 year licence valid until 2012. The entire terminal building is non-smoking and is all one one level.

There have been considerable improvements of Nimes airport restaurants in the last couple of years and it is now possible to get food and drink at times to co-incide with flight arrivals and departures. It is advisable to do your shopping for presents etc before you get to the airport although there are a couple of small Nimes airport shops and you may just see that little something for someone back home.
