No more snow disruptions for flights to France

It looks like for now at least, we are rid of the disruptions caused by heavy snowfall in France.

I've checked around and I cannot find any airports in France or flights to France with delays or cancellations today. I'll keep an eye open and will report any disruptions to flights to France as and when I see them.

Will car hire in France be tricky in 2010?

2009 saw some problems with car hire in France due to supply and demand issues. The global downturn saw many car hire companies holding back on upgrading their fleets and indeed in some cases reducing their fleet size. This meant that many people who left their car hire in France to the last minute were disappointed due to lack of availability.

It seems as though car hire in France wasn't as badly affected as car hire in Spain but it was a problem none the less.

Many sources are reporting that these availability issues are set to continue in 2010 so the best advice is not to leave your car hire in France until the last minute. In fact, not only will advance booking guarantee your car rental but in many cases it will mean that your car hire in France will be cheaper that if you'd have left it to the last minute.

I myself have just booked a hire car for a short trip at the end of January and because I booked well in advance and used the cartrawler booking system I got myself a really good deal. I ended up paying not much more than €50 for three days, including insurance. I don't know about you but I think that is a seriously god deal.

Use our booking engine to get an instant online quote for your car hire in France and secure yourself a good deal now rather than leaving it until the last minute and risking disapointment.

Air France flights to France to get interesting........

Air France flights to France are set to get a bit of an update in april 2010 say inside sources.

Unsurprisingly feeling the pinch of low cost airlines. Pierre Gourgeon, Air France-KLM Group CEO said “We have seen a slow erosion of our unit revenue since 2002 on short-and medium-haul routes. Despite the adjustments and changes that we have made in 2003/4 especially with more competitive fares, we continue to see our unit revenue plunging to levels unseen for over a decade. We had to react strongly.”

With this in mind, Air France is set to morph into two new segments, Premium and Voyageur.

Air France's Premium scheme will include business fares plus fully flexible economy fares, while Voyageur will offer low economy fares with little flexibility to change aiming at re-dressing the balance with the low cost airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet.

Gourgeon said that he is "convinced that we will see a rapid turn-around as we will gain market shares again in Europe thanks to our low fares in both leisure and business travel segments”

Ryanair closes check in desks.............

From 1st October Ryanair have now closed all its check in desks in favour of online check-in.

You are now obliged to check-in online at least four hours prior to departure and not more than that 15 days in advance of travel.

This means that if you are away for more than 15 days you will most likely have to go and find an internet cafe to check in for your return trip and print out your boarding cards. Not an ideal scenario at all.

If you fail to check-in online you will be met with a penalty at the airport of approx £40 which will be classed as a “Boarding pass re-issue fee”.
