New summer flights to Bordeaux and La Rochelle


With news of airports closed due to snow yet again, its cheering to see that Ryanair are proposing new routes for the summer. Visitors from Ireland will be able to take direct flights from Cork to Bordeaux and also a direct flight from Cork to the lovely west coast destination of La Rochelle. (pictured above)


Those living in the Irish capital can add direct flights from Dublin to Nantes to their choices for flights from Ireland to France.

More shopping opportunities at Bordeaux airport

Retail group Aelia has been awarded the contract to run tax and duty free retail outlet at Bordeaux airport following open tender.

The contract terms include the master retail concession at Bordeaux airport's new "Simplified Services" terminal due to open in May 2010.

Aelia will operate a 200 sqm airside tax and duty free concession at Bordeaux airport's Terminal A offering a selection of perfumes, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco, confectionery and fine food.

In Termianl B at Bordeaux airport the company will open an 80 sqm land side store offering fashion accessories, cosmetics and perfume.

Meanwhile the new “simplified services” terminal at Bordeaux, known as “Billi”, features almost 600m² of commercial space, including a 355m² tax- and duty-free store, a 110m² news and gifts outlet and a 120m² bar and café. The F&B outlet will be managed by airport catering specialist Elior, while the press element will be run by Relay, Aelia’s sister company within the Lagardère Services group.

New Shopping Experience at Bordeaux Airport

Shopping is set to get a whole lot more exiciting at Bordeaux Airport. The retailer Aelia is planning to upgrade its stores in both terminals and to open a large new shop in May 2010.

Apart from the usual duty-free fare the stores will offer a large range of other merchandise from sunglasses and cosmetics to books and magazines.

There will also be a large wine section. Well this IS Bordeaux after all!
