Brest - BES

Brest Airport is 10km north west of the city and only a few miles from the most westerly point of mainland France.  It is a beautiful, modern little airport, the terminal building being shaped like a giant ray with the aircraft arriving at the wings and the tail forming a covered walkway out to the main car parks.

Likened to Cornwall, the picturesque villages of southern Brittany and the rugged magnificence of Cape Finnistère are all with easy reach.  In this area you are quite likely to hear the Breton language spoken.

Brest Airport Arrivals

Being in northern France, Brest is only a short flight from most UK destinations.  Flight arrivals at Brest airport are handled quickly and efficiently in the new modern terminal.

Passengers disembark either via one of the three airbridges or via the aircraft steps.  For visitors from the EU, passport controls are quick, baggage arrives onto the carousel without undue delay and then you pass out into the spacious main hall.

Straight in front of you are the car hire desks.  Outside you will find Brest Airport Taxis and  Brest Airport Buses. For up-to-the-minute details of arriving flights read our page on Brest airport arrivals.

There is a lift for wheel chair users.  For details of today’s departures read our information on Brest airport Departures.

The Brest airport taxi rank is just outside the terminal, under cover which is convenient in poor weather.

A taxi into Brest should take about  15 minutes and cost in the region of 25 euros.  For other destinations it is best to get an idea from the driver before you set off.

Brest Airport Transfers

Brest airport transfers will be able to meet you as you exit the airport and have a nice, comfortable, airconditioned/heated car ready to take you to your hotel or campsite.

A pre-booked transfer from Brest airport can be particulary useful if you don't want to bother with buses or trains and are staying in town or on a campsite and don't expect to be doing much traveling.

Friends of mine tend to use holiday taxis when they travel and have never had a bad thing to say about the service.

Brest Airport Buses

The shuttle bus into the city is called Navette Verney.  It makes 3 stops on the way to the railway station.  Expect to pay about 5 euros single – pay on the bus.  The bus leaves from just outside the terminal.

Brest Airport Parking

When the new airport was opened in 2007, the number of parking spaces was increased to 2500.  There is a monitored “Drop Off” zone called Depose Minute.  Here the driver must stay with the vehicle.  The short stay car park is close by and is only 2.10 euros for two hours.  There is also a covered car park (minimum fee 4 euros) with direct access to the terminal and a long-stay car park on the site of the old airport, which gives you one hour free.
