It is quite a large airport with two terminals and handles flights to a large number of international destinations.

Bordeaux itself is the largest city in Aquitaine and lies at the western end of Le Canal des Deux Mers which links the atlantic and mediterranean coasts.  Beyond Toulouse it is known as Le Canal du Midi.  Bordeaux is best known, of course, for it's exceptional wines.
